Report

1. Day:

Cape Town – Stellenbosch – Worcester – Nuy – Robertson

Saturday morning punctually at 9am we were ready in front of GS Africa. Ready to pick up our companion for the next 5 days. It was a GS 700RS. Witch was waiting inside of us. After a few minutes we left the Shop. Gabriela was driving the car and I was driving the GS. First we went back to our home to pack all our stuff and at 11am we started our big tour. We were both very excited.

First we left Cape Town north east on the N1 straigth to Paarl were we left the N1 to R45 to Wellington. Wellington is a nice and peaceful town. In Wellington we head out to the Bainskloof Pass. Our first Pass. This pass was build 1853 and is reaching the hight of fully 580m (Summit 610m). It’s a beautyful drive up there with nice scenery, small tar roads and some awesome curves.

Afterward we drove further throu Worcester, Nuy until we reached Robertson. On this part we passed a lot of different winefarms and vineyards. If we would have more days for trip we defently would stop somewhere on a nice farm and would do a winetaste which this area of the western cape is very famous for. But unfortunately we had a strict timeschedule so we just passed all the nice places and rode till Robertson around 3pm. Robertson is also famous for wine and has got a lot of winedistileries. But all closed when we arrived because it was saturday. So we decided to fill our stomach with something good and than finding a stay over night. It was a calm place. We enjoyed a lot exept, that the locals warnd us to go out by feet if it’s dark because of the high crime in this area. We couldn’t estimate how bad it really will be but we decidet to do the save way and stayed at the B&B with good talks and some drinks.

2. Day:

Robertson – Montagu – Barrydale – R 62 throu Klein Karoo – Oudtshoorn

On our second day we spendet our breakfast with a couple together which are on the way from Cape Town back home to Tsitsikamma National Park where they farming. We had a nice talk together and the couple gave us some advises for the trip today to discover nice spots and stops for breaks.

So we left Robertson around 10am to Montagu, Barrydale and furder throu Klein Karoo on the R 62 until we finaly reached Oudtshoorn. We visited Look outs and Tunnel in Montagu. Diesel and Milk in Barrydale are doing best Milkshake. Klein Karoo, my first official desert I ever visited. Amazing landscape - but quite hot with bike-clothes.
